Classical Guitars: Adding the Sides (4 of 9)
This
photo highlights the Spanish heal construction method used on all Trinity
classical guitar built by luthier Jim Holler. The shavings inside the guitar
are from the back binding being fit for the back assembly. achined flat
and parallel. |

The
traditional bracing pattern is evident. The blocks used to join the top
to the back are made of basswood. Basswood has very poor acoustic qualities
and as such is perfect for this job. The concept is to isolate the top from
the sides acoustically. The basswood being such a poor transmitter of sound
helps to keep the sound energy in the top. |
